The table is set within an empty plot in the historic center of Areopolis in Mani.

It is a long prefabricated slab of reinforced concrete, one end of which is carved to meet the needs of food preparation (grill, gas burner, cutting board, sink). The heavy precast block is supported on thin rectangular solid steel rods that are left unpainted in order to gradually gain a permanent surface layer of rust. An existing partition masonry wall protects from the north wind and the lightly sloping ground adjusts for the height requirements of the different functions.

The monolithic structure hovers above the ground and intends to not disturb the micro-landscape of the enclosed vacant plot. It also attempts to compete with traditional features of Mani architecture: compactness, rigor, the claim of autonomy and a silent insolence toward perish ability.
